Courtney and I want to thank you for being here today. We are glad you are here, we need you here. Thank you.

As we have all known for a quite a while our Little Gemma is very sick, and will most likely go home to her heavenly family soon. We want each of you, Juliana, Grandma, Grandpa, Grammie, and friends to help us celebrate Gemma's life. She is your sister, your granddaughter, and your friend.

We have tried to plan as much as we possibly could for this day. But, at the time of this letter being read, Courtney and I are now in an unknown place. We do not know what will happen. We want to bring each of you into visit with and kiss and love your sister, granddaughter and friend. We will try to make this happen as shortly as possible after her birth. How surgery goes and how Courtney responds after surgery, and of course initial examinations of Gemma will determine exactly what happens and when.

It is our hope and prayer that each of you will be able to visit with Gemma before her spirit leaves her body to go dance with the angels. We know however, that this may not be possible and that her guardian angel may have already taken her Home or may be leading her there as you visit. Be not afraid. We want you to meet, love, and embrace our precious baby girl and to be able to hold on to these memories for a lifetime. Please try to look beyond any physical characteristics she may have and know that she was created in God's loving image. We have been looking forward to seeing our precious Gem for months now, looking forward to rubbing her little cheeks, and kissing and wiggling each and every one of her little toes, whether she has ten or twelve, each is a special and amazing as she is. These are precious moments that will not come back and cannot be replaced. Please join us in celebrating the life of our little girl. Feel free to smile with us and to cry with us. As Juliana says, "It is OK to cry sometimes, Mommy, like when Shane gets timeout." Please, don't hold back the tears, we know this isn't easy for you either.

By the time, you come in please know this: you will be visiting a little gem, she will have been baptized and her soul will shine bright. Courtney and I have often laughed over these past few months when we discussed that it is ours', as well as any parents', goal to get their children into heaven. Well, little Gemma's got a first class ticket to heaven, which is the greatest reward of all.

We also want to thank all of you for your prayers, love and support over these past several months. It is true that God carries us totally when times are the toughest. He does that by placing you in our lives. Your words of encouragement, hugs, and prayers have helped us, and have helped Gemma. We will need you for months to come, to listen to us and to acknowledge and remember the life of our little Gemma Therese.

We want to thank Juliana most of all. You are the big sister, Juliana. You have talked daily to your little sister, and have colored on Mommy's tummy as a present for Gemma. It is only right for you to come see your sister first, and help Mommy and Daddy comb Gemma's hair. We love you Juliana!

love,
Mommy and Daddy.
